If you’ve just run into a problem where your storyboard or UI files in XCode open in a code editor it can be tedious to figure out what the problem is.
The first time this happened to me I was getting compiler warnings on my storyboard file, and I thought this was causing the problem. As it turns out–that had nothing to do with it. I don’t know what triggered this to be the default behavior but the solution is easier than it seems.
Just Right-Click your storyboard in the Project Naviator and click Open As… > Interface Builder - iOS Storyboard:
